
Regina, (Reggie) Sabiston was born and raised in Regina. At the age of 21 she started teaching elementary school in Wishart, SK. In 1987 - 1990, while continuing her education, she completed three acrylic painting classes from the University of Saskatoon and in January 2004, a year after her children graduated she decided to follow her dream and become an artist. Reggie Sabiston's love of colour is the driving force behind her work. She considers herself a self-taught artist, who has won the last two adjudications in Wadena, 2008 and 2009. Reggie is also a member of The Fort Qu' Appelle Art Guild and a member of “The Regina Federation of Artists”. She has had several solo shows in Wynyard as well. In June of 2009, Reggie painted with several well known artists’ at Glacier National Park. Among the artist’s were Ned Mueller, Morgan Samuel Price, Dick Smith, Mehdi Fallahian, Jennie Mackenzie, Robert Stem, Gordie Edberg, Susan Faust, and Rhonda McCay, She has recently taken a workshops from Canadian artists’ Doug Purdon, Eltje Degenhart, Anne Packham and Beth Gaffney. Her paintings are in private collections across Canada, the USA and Germany. For years acrylic has been her choice of medium, but she also paints in watercolour, painting subjects ranging from wildlife to portraits. Reggie Sabiston loves realism, miniatures and occasionally dabbles in abstract art. For now, her goal is to do commissioned artwork as well as display and sell her paintings.
